Rear Brake Pads: Removal
- Inspect fluid level in brake master cylinder reservoir.
- If brake fluid level is midway between the maximum full point and minimum allowable level, no brake fluid needs to be removed from the reservoir before proceeding.
- If brake fluid level is higher than midway between the maximum full point and minimum allowable level, remove brake fluid to the midway point before proceeding.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove wheels.
- Inspect caliper operation.
- Using a C-clamp, slowly bottom the pistons into caliper. It may be necessary to reposition the C-clamp to allow both pistons to bottom into the caliper bores.
- Remove caliper from mounting bracket and support caliper with wire. See BRAKE CALIPER (REAR) .
- Inspect caliper assembly.
- Remove brake pads from brake caliper bracket.
- Remove and discard anti-rattle clips from brake caliper mounting bracket.
NOTE:
DO NOT disconnect hydraulic brake flexible hose from caliper.
