Front Brake Pads: Installation
- Install new anti-rattle clips to the inside ends of the caliper mounting bracket.
- Install brake pads to the caliper mounting bracket.
- Install brake caliper.
- Install wheels.
- Remove safety stands.
- Lower vehicle.
- With engine off, gradually apply brake pedal about 2/3 of the pedal's travel distance.
- Slowly release brake pedal.
- Wait 15 seconds, then repeat applying brakes until a firm pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
- Fill brake master cylinder to proper level.
- Burnish pads and rotors. To burnish pads and rotor, select a smooth road with little or no traffic. Accelerate vehicle to 30 MPH. Avoid overheating brakes while performing this procedure. Using moderate to firm pressure, apply brakes to bring vehicle to a stop. DO NOT allow brakes to lock. Repeat about 20 stops. Allow sufficient cooling periods between stops in order to properly burnish the brake pads and rotors.
