Brake Caliper (Rear): Installation

NOTE: Use denatured alcohol to clean the outside surface of caliper boots before installing new brake pads.
  1. If installing new brake pads, use a C-clamp to compress the pistons to the bottom of caliper bores. Use old brake pad, a metal plate or a wooden block across the face of the pistons to protect pistons and caliper boots.
  2. Ensure caliper boots are below the level of the face of both pistons.
  3. Install brake caliper to brake caliper mounting bracket.
  4. Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch. Clean bolt threads with brake parts cleaner and allow to dry. Apply Loctite(R) to bolt threads.
  5. Install brake caliper mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten brake caliper guide pin bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Remove rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake hose fitting end.
  8. Assemble NEW copper brake hose gaskets and brake hose to caliper bolt to brake hose.
  9. Connect brake hose at the caliper by installing the brake hose to caliper bolt. Tighten to specification.
  10. Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
  11. Install wheels.
  12. Lower vehicle.
