Park Brake Actuator - Disc: Installation

  1. Install the park brake actuator lever housing to the backing plate.
  2. Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch. Clean the threads of the bolt with brake parts cleaner or the equivalent and allow to dry. Apply Threadlock GM P/N 12345493, or Red LOCTITE™ #272 to the threads of the bolt.
  3. Install the backing plate bolts. Tighten the backing plate bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Install the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE SHOE - DISC .
  5. Install the axle shaft. See appropriate AXLE SHAFT article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  6. Adjust the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
  7. Install the rotor. BRAKE ROTOR - REAR .
  8. Install the park brake cable to the mounting bracket until the locking tabs snap into place.
  9. Install the rear park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever.
  10. Tighten the nut to the intermediate cable at the equalizer. Tighten the nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  12. Lower vehicle.
  13. Adjust park brake cable. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT .
