Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the console shift lever bezel. Refer to CONSOLE SHIFT LEVER BEZEL REPLACEMENT (OLDSMOBILE)   . 
  2. Remove the lower trim plate retaining screws.
  3. Starting at the bottom of the trim plate, release the 2 lower retaining clips and the 2 intermediate retaining clips.
  4. Release the 3 upper retaining clips.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors as necessary.
  6. If replacing the trim plate, perform the following steps:
    1. 6.1. Remove the rear windshield wiper switch.

      Refer to WIPER/WASHER SWITCH REPLACEMENT - REAR  in Wiper/Washer Systems.

    2. 6.2. If equipped, remove the cigar lighter and 12-volt power supply. Refer to CIGAR LIGHTER OR 12-VOLT POWER SUPPLY REPLACEMENT   .
