Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift Standard)

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering wheel from the column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  3. Remove the steering column from the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  4. Remove the electronic lock module assembly. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
  5. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly. Refer to Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
  6. Remove the linear shift assembly. Refer to Linear Shift Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift) .
  7. Inspect the steering column for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle .
  8. Remove the adapter and bearing assembly (1) from the steering shaft assembly.

  10. Remove the steering shaft assembly (1) from the steering column support assembly (2) and the steering column jacket assembly (3).

  12. Remove the 4 TORX® head screws (1) from the steering column support assembly (2).
  13. Discard the 4 TORX® head screws (1).
  14. Remove the steering column support assembly (2) from the steering column jacket assembly (3).
