Removal & Installation (Driver-side)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Turn steering wheel 90 degrees to gain access to rear steering wheel holes. Insert screw driver into each hole and push leaf springs to release air bag module from retaining pins. See Fig 1. Turn steering wheel 180 degrees to access remaining holes. Pull air bag module away from steering wheel. Disconnect air bag wire harness from clips on air bag module and steering wheel. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from air bag module connector and disconnect connector. Remove driver-side air bag module.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure driver-side air bag module retaining pins are latched securely on leaf springs. Activate air bag system.
