Brake Rotor - Front: Removal

  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Remove the brake caliper, 2 wheel drive vehicles. See BRAKE CALIPER - FRONT SINGLE PISTON  or BRAKE CALIPER - FRONT DUAL PISTON  .
  4. Remove the brake caliper and mounting bracket, 4 wheel drive. See BRAKE CALIPER BRACKET - FRONT .
  5. Remove the retaining ring, 4 wheel drive vehicles only.
  6. Remove the brake rotor, 4 wheel drive vehicles only.
  7. Remove the brake rotor and wheel bearings, 2 wheel drive vehicles only. See BRAKE ROTOR - FRONT .
  8. Inspect the brake rotor. See DISC ROTOR SURFACE AND WEAR INSPECTION  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
  9. Inspect the brake rotor. See DISC CALIPER INSPECTION  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
  10. Refinish the rotor if necessary.
