Brake Pads - Front Dual Piston Caliper: Installation

  1. Install the new anti rattle retainers.
  2. Install the outboard brake pad. See Fig 1.
  3. Install inboard brake pad. See Fig 2.
  4. Remove the brake caliper from the support.
  5. Install the brake caliper. See BRAKE CALIPER - FRONT DUAL PISTON .
  6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the brake master cylinder to the proper level. See MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR FILLING  under BLEEDING.
  9. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  10. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  11. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps  67 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
  12. Burnish the new brake pads. See BURNISHING PADS AND ROTORS  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
