Park Brake Hardware Inspection
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel.
- Remove the rear brake drum. See BRAKE DRUM REPLACEMENT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Using denatured alcohol, clean the rear brake assembly.
- Using non lubricated filtered air, dry the rear brake assembly.
- Visually inspect the park brake hardware for the following: Excessive corrosion. Excessive stretching. Broken components. Bent components. Twisting or binding Missing components.
- If any of the conditions listed were found, the park brake hardware requires replacement.
- Install the rear brake drum. See BRAKE DRUM REPLACEMENT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Install the tire and wheel.
- Lower the vehicle.
