Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble

- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Disassemble - Off Vehicle.
3. Remove the bearing retainer (1) using J 23653-SIR.





4. Remove the following parts from the steering shaft assembly:
4.1. The shaft lock shield assembly (1)
4.2. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (2)
4.3. The upper bearing spring (3)
4.4. The upper bearing inner race seat (4)
4.5. The inner race (5)
