Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble

Tools Required
- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.

Important: Put the steering column in the CENTER position.

2. Remove the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement- On Vehicle.
3. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
4. Remove the steering column from the vehicle.

5. Secure the steering column to J41352.
6. Inspect the steering column for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle.





7. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (2) from the lower trim cover (1).
8. Remove the lower trim cover (1).





9. Remove the TORX head screw (1) from the upper trim cover (2).
10. Remove the upper trim cover (2).





11. Remove the trim cover protector (1) from the lower trim cover (2).
