Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble

- Tools Required
- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture





1. Install the trim cover protector (1) to the lower trim cover (2).





2. Install the upper trim cover (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the TORCH head screw (1) to the upper trim cover (2).
- Tighten the TORT screw to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).

Important: The shift lever seal must seat correctly into the trim covers.





4. Install the lower trim cover (1).
5. Install the 2 pan head tapping screws (2) to the lower trim cover (1).
- Tighten the pan head tapping screws to 3.5 Nm (31 inch lbs.).

Notice: Refer to Improper Routing of the Wire Harness Notice in Service Precautions.





6. Remove the steering column and J 41352from the vise.
7. Install the steering column into the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
8. Install the steering wheel onto the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
9. Install the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement- On Vehicle.
10. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems
