Removal & Installation

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Apply parking brake to prevent vehicle movement.
- Remove left and right A-pillar trim. Remove driver-side knee bolster and instrument panel end cap. Disconnect driver-side door jamb switch electrical connector. Remove passenger-side instrument panel end cap. Remove glove box. Move shifter to Neutral position. Pull shifter trim bezel upward at rear edge. Disconnect electrical connectors from underside of shifter trim bezel. Remove front console storage compartment. Remove radio trim bezel.
- Disconnect A/C-heater (HVAC) control head. Remove upper steering column cover. Remove ignition switch bezel. Remove lower steering column cover. Remove Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) trim bezel. Remove cross car beam bolt covers and bolts. See Fig 1. Remove instrument panel trim pad screws. Remove instrument panel trim pad.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten instrument panel trim pad screws and cross car beam bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system.
