Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2000 GMC Yukon XL, 2000 GMC Yukon, 2000 GMC Sierra, 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2000 Chevrolet Suburban. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine off. Using scan tool, observe DOOR KEY SWITCH parameter in appropriate data list. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to step 3 .
- Turn either door key switch to UNLOCK position. Using scan tool, observe DOOR KEY SWITCH parameter. If DOOR KEY SWITCH parameter changes state, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS . If DOOR KEY SWITCH parameter does not change state, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect left front door jamb switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine off. Using scan tool, observe DOOR KEY SWITCH parameter. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, go to step 7 . If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect right front door jamb switch. Turn ignition to RUN position, engine off. Using scan tool, observe DOOR KEY SWITCH parameter. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, go to step 8 . If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to next step.
- Check Light Green wire between BCM and door jamb switches for short to ground. If problem was found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 12 . If problem was not found, go to next step.
- Check BCM connectors for poor connections. If problem was found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 12 . If problem was not found, go to step 9 .
- Check left front door jamb switch connector for poor connections. If problem was found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 12 . If problem was not found, go to step 10 .
- Check right front door jamb switch connector for poor connections. If problem was found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 12 . If problem was not found, go to step 11 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Replace left door jamb switch. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Replace right door jamb switch. After repairs, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recheck BCM for DTCs. If DTCs do not reset, system is okay.
