Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2000 GMC Yukon XL, 2000 GMC Yukon, 2000 GMC Sierra, 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2000 Chevrolet Suburban. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Connect scan tool. Momentarily turn ignition switch to START position (do not start engine). Release key to RUN position. Using scan tool, check BCM for DTCs. If DTC B2960 is set as current, go to next step. If DTC B2960 is not set as current, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- If scan tool displays DTC B2947, B2948, B2957 or B2958, perform appropriate diagnostic procedure for DTC set. If none of these DTCs are displayed, go to next step.
- If Passlock(tm) sensor has been replaced, perform auto learn procedure. See PROGRAMMING . If Passlock(tm) sensor has not been replaced, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, observe Passlock(tm) data voltage for one minute. If scan tool voltage changes more than +/- 0.02 volts, go to next step. If scan tool voltage does not change more than +/- 0.02 volts, reprogram Passlock(tm) sensor. See PROGRAMMING . After repairs, go to step 6 .
- Check Passlock(tm) sensor connector for poor connections. If connections are okay, replace Passlock(tm) sensor. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform auto learn procedure. See PROGRAMMING . After repairs, go to next step.
- Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Momentarily turn ignition switch to START position (do not start engine). Release key to RUN position. Using scan tool, check BCM for DTCs. If DTCs do not reset, system is okay.
