Vehicle Speed Sensor

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a permanent-magnet signal generator. A toothed rotor is mounted on tail shaft. Rotor teeth revolve past VSS, producing pulses which are sent to VSS Buffer (VSSB) on diesel engine, or Vehicle Control Module (VCM) on gasoline engines for processing, then to PCM, speedometer and cruise control (if equipped).
