Disabling System (Avalanche, Bravada, Envoy, Envoy XL, Escalade, Escalade EXT, Sierra, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, TrailBlazer, TrailBlazer XL, Yukon & Yukon XL)

WARNING: Regular cab and extra cab pickup models are equipped with ON/OFF switches for passenger side air bags. Turning switch OFF will NOT disable the driver air bag.
  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove key from ignition switch.
  2. Remove AIR BAG fuse from instrument panel fuse block. Wait one minute. Fuse block is located at far left end of instrument panel. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip, and disconnect driver air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector at base of steering column. See Figure.
  3. Open glove box. Push in on glove box sides to fully open glove box. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip, and disconnect passenger air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector located behind glove box attached to main instrument panel support. See Figure.
