Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove driver-side air bag module. See AIR BAG MODULES . Disconnect steering wheel electrical connectors. Remove weight block from steering wheel, if equipped. Make note of mark on steering shaft and steering wheel to ensure proper alignment during installation. Remove steering wheel nut. Using Steering Wheel Puller (J-1859-A) with Puller Legs (J42578), remove steering wheel.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure mark on steering wheel is aligned with mark on steering shaft. Tighten steering wheel nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system.
