Voltmeter Inaccurate Or Inoperative

NOTE: After each repair procedure has been completed, reconnect all components. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  1. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. Go to next step.
  2. If voltmeter is inaccurate or inoperative, go to next step. If voltmeter is not inaccurate or inoperative, check for intermittent in wiring or connections. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster as necessary for access to IPC connector. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove IPC connector comb, leaving IPC connected. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage (backprobe) at IPC connector terminal A7 (Pink wire). See Figure . Compare voltage reading on DVOM with voltage reading on IPC voltmeter. If both readings are within 2.5 volts, perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. If both readings are not within 2.5 volts, go to next step.
  4. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest operation.
