Diagnostic Procedure
- Turn ignition switch to START position and release to RUN position without starting engine. Measure voltage (backprobe) between Passlock™ module connector terminal B7 (Yellow wire) and ground. See Figure. If voltage is 4.9-5.0 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.9-5.0 volts, go to step 6.
- Measure voltage (backprobe) between Passlock™ module connector terminal A5 (Red/White wire) and ground. See Figure. If voltage is 9-16 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 9-16 volts, see DTC B2947: PASSLOCK™ SENSOR POWER CIRCUIT LOW .
- Measure voltage (backprobe) between Passlock™ module connector terminals A5 (Red/White wire) and B5 (Orange/Black wire). See Figure. If voltage is 9-16 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 9-16 volts, replace Passlock™ module. See PASSLOCK™ MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Passlock™ module and Passlock™ sensor connectors. Check for continuity in circuits between Passlock™ module harness connector terminal B7 and Passlock™ sensor harness terminal A5 (Red/White wire), Passlock™ module harness connector terminal D3 and Passlock™ sensor harness terminal B7 (Yellow wire) and Passlock™ module harness connector terminal C4 and Passlock™ sensor harness terminal B5 (Orange/Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists on all circuits, go to next step. If continuity does not exist on any circuit, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 8.
- Ensure Passlock™ sensor tip is flush in lock cylinder housing. Ensure magnet at outer edge of lock cylinder is tightly held in place with composite piece. Ensure magnet is not demagnetized. If any problems exist, replace lock cylinder and magnet assembly. After repairs, go to step 8.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Passlock™ module connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between module harness connector terminal B7 (Red/White wire) and ground. See Figure. If more than one volt exists, go to next step. If one volt or less exists, turn ignition off and replace Passlock™ module. See PASSLOCK™ MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 8.
- Disconnect Passlock™ sensor connector. Measure voltage between Passlock™ module harness connector terminal B7 (Red/White wire) and ground. See Figure. If voltage is one volt or less, go to step 5. If voltage is more than one volt, repair short to voltage in Red/white wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, go to next step.
- Reconnect all connectors and components. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Perform reprogramming procedure. See PROGRAMMING .
