Test 10: Tachometer Inaccurate

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Start engine. Using scan tool, monitor engine speed. If engine speed displayed on scan tool is within 250 RPM of actual engine speed, go to next step. If engine speed displayed on scan tool is within 250 RPM of actual engine speed, check for poor connection and intermittent conditions.
  2. Replace instrument cluster.
