Test 7: Oil Pressure Gauge Always Indicates Low: Gasoline

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel pump/oil pressure switch/sender harness connector. Turn ignition on. If oil pressure gauge indicates high pressure (about 80 psi), go to next step. If oil pressure gauge does not indicate high pressure (about 80 psi), go to step  3.
  2. Replace fuel pump/oil pressure switch/sender.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 15 (Tan wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. See Figure. If continuity does not exist, go to step  5. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  4. Repair short to ground in Tan wire between fuel pump/oil pressure switch/sender and instrument cluster.
  5. Replace instrument cluster.
