Fuel Gauge Always Indicates Empty (Single Tank Diesel)
- Disconnect fuel sending unit connector. Turn ignition on. If fuel gauge reads full, replace sending unit. If fuel gauge still reads empty, go to next step.
- Check resistance between sending unit terminals "A" and "B". If resistance is not between zero ohms (empty) and 90 ohms (full), replace sending unit. If resistance is between zero ohms (empty) and 90 ohms (full), go to next step.
- Reconnect sending unit connector. Remove IPC. Check resistance between IPC harness connector terminal No. 16 (Purple wire) and ground. If resistance is not between zero ohms (empty) and 90 ohms (full) as measured in last step, repair open in Purple wire. If resistance is between zero ohms (empty) and 90 ohms (full), replace IPC.
