Water In Fuel Indicator Check (Diesel)
- Turn ignition to RUN position. If water in fuel indicator does not illuminate briefly, go to next step. If water in fuel indicator illuminates briefly, go to step 5.
- Disconnect water in fuel sender harness connector. Using test light connected to ground, probe water in fuel sender connector terminal "A" (Pink wire). If test light lights, go to next step. If test light does not light, go to step 6.
- Connect test light between water in fuel sender connector terminals "A" (Pink wire) and "C" (Black wire). If test light lights, go to next step. If test light does not light, go to step 8.
- Using test light connected to ground, probe water in fuel sender connector terminal "B" (Yellow/Black wire). If test light lights, go to step 11. If test light does not light, go to step 10.
- Recheck system under conditions that caused initial problem. If no problem exists, system is okay. If problem exists, go to step 1.
- Check ECM1 fuse (20-amp) in instrument panel fuse block. Check Pink wire between instrument panel fuse block and water in fuel sensor terminal "A". If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 12.
- Check water in fuel sensor terminal "A" connection. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 12. If no problem is found, go to step 11.
- Check for open circuit on Black wire between water in fuel sensor terminal "C" and ground. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 12.
- Check water in fuel sensor terminal "C" connection. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 12. If no problem is found, go to step 11.
- Repair open in light circuit, including GAUGES fuse (20-amp) in instrument panel fuse block, Pink wire between instrument panel fuse block and instrument panel terminal No. 22, bulb and Yellow/Black wire between instrument panel terminal 18 and sensor terminal "B". Go to step 12.
- Replace water in fuel sensor. Go to next step.
- Recheck system under conditions that caused initial problem. If no problem exists, system is okay. If problem exists, go to step 1.
