Temperature Gauge Always Reads Hot

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Disconnect coolant temperature sender. If temperature gauge moves to COLD, replace temperature sender. If gauge remains on HOT, go to next step.
  2. Using test light, backprobe instrument cluster harness terminal No. 13 (Dark Green wire) to battery power. If test light lights, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire. If test light does not light, go to next step.
  3. Using test light, backprobe instrument cluster harness terminal No. 31 (Black wire) to battery power. If test light does not light, repair open in Black wire. If test light lights, check instrument cluster printed circuit. If printed circuit is okay, replace temperature gauge.
