Service Throttle Soon Indicator Inoperative (Diesel)

  1. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a fused jumper wire between White/Black wire terminal of PCM connector and ground. If indicator lights, problem is in throttle control system (accelerator pedal position sensor). See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If indicator does not light, go to next step.
  2. Remove jumper wire. Using fused jumper wire, backprobe instrument cluster harness connector terminal No. 21 (White/Black wire) to ground. If indicator lights, repair open in White/Black wire. If indicator does not light, replace indicator.
