Temperature Gauge Always Indicates Hot

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Compare engine temperature with coolant gauge reading. If readings are within 30 degrees of each other, gauge is operating properly. Check cooling system. If readings are not within 30 degrees of each other, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect coolant temperature sender harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If temperature gauge indicates COLD, replace temperature sender. If gauge does not indicate COLD, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector. Connect self-powered test light between ground and harness connector terminal No. B9 (Dark Green wire). If test light does not light, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light lights, repair open in Dark Green wire.
