Temperature Gauge Always Indicates Cold

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Compare engine temperature with coolant gauge reading. If readings are within 30 degrees of each other, gauge is operating properly. Check cooling system. If readings are not within 30 degrees of each other, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect coolant temperature sender harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a fused jumper wire between temperature gauge sender Dark Green wire terminal and ground. If temperature gauge indicates HOT, replace temperature sender. If gauge does not indicate HOT, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector. Connect self-powered test light between ground and harness connector terminal No. B9 (Dark Green wire). If test light lights, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not light, repair open in Dark Green wire.
