Inspect cooling system fluid level and condition. Check transmission cooler and cooler lines for damage and restrictions. TFT sensor temperature should rise steadily and then stabilize. Check for torque converter stator malfunction. Check customer driving habits (towing in incorrect gear). DTC P0218 may set about 10 minutes after DTC P0711 (TFT sensor circuit range/performance) has set. Follow diagnostic test for DTC P0711 before performing this DTC. Repairing condition that set DTC P0711 will most likely eliminate DTC P0218. First diagnose and clear any engine and TP sensor DTCs that are present, then inspect for any transmission DTCs that may have reset.
