Lower Ball Joint: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle under lower control arms. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
    2. CAUTION: Floor jack must remain under lower control during entire removal and installation procedure. Failure to do so could result in serious injury.
  2. Support lower control are with floor jack.
  3. Remove halfshaft. Remove brake caliper, and wire aside. Remove cotter pin and nut from lower control arm ball joint. Using (J 39549), break ball jopint loose from knuckle. Remove knuckle.
  4. Remove ball joint from lower control arm using Ball Joint Remover/Installer Set (J 41805, J 41435-3 & J 414335-1). Inspect tapered hole in steering knuckle. If hole is out of round, deformed, or damaged, replace knuckle.
