Fuel Gauge Is Inaccurate

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Disconnect fuel level sensor on top of fuel tank. Using Tester (J-33431-B), connect Red tester lead to Purple wire terminal of fuel level sensor connector and other lead to ground. Set dial to zero ohms. Slowly rotate dial to 90 ohms. If fuel gauge does not respond, go to next step. If fuel gauge reads LOW at zero ohms, and FULL at 90 ohms, replace fuel level sensor.
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector. Measure resistance between harness connector terminal No. 30 (Purple wire) and ground. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Purple wire.
