DTC B0860: IPC Crank Signal Circuit Malfunction: Testing

  1. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Check voltage by backprobing IPC terminal A2 (Tan/White wire). See Figure . If voltage is not 9-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 9-14 volts, go to step 6).
  3. Check for intermittent short to battery voltage on Purple/White wire between IPC terminal A5 and underhood bussed electrical center connector C1 terminal A11. If no problem was found, go to next step. If short was found, go to step 6).
  4. Clear DTC. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Wait 60 seconds. If DTC B0860 resets, go to next step. If DTC does not reset, IPC is okay. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING.
  5. Replace IPC. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING.
  6. Repair short circuit on Purple/White wire between IPC terminal A5 and underhood bussed electrical center connector C1 terminal A11. Go to next step.
  7. Clear DTCs. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING.
