No Correction For Slip In AWD (Auto) Mode

- If ATC system check was performed, go to next step. If system check was not performed, see ATC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Connect scan tool to DLC. Set parking brake. Shift transmission to "N" position. Start and run engine at idle. Shift transfer case between AUTO and 2H modes. Using scan tool, read front axle actuator status while shifting transfer case. If scan tool displays actuator changes from open to closed while shifting, go to next step. If scan tool does not display actuator changes from open to closed while shifting, go to step 5).
- Check to ensure front drive shaft speed sensor is mounted in proper location and properly connected to Yellow and Purple wire circuits. If any problem is found, go to next step. If no problem is found, go to step 5).
- Remove and relocate speed sensor to proper location and/or properly connect sensor to circuits. When repair is complete, see ATC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Inspect front axle and front axle actuator for proper operation (mechanically and electrically). If problem is found in actuator or circuits, see FRONT AXLE WILL NOT ENGAGE test. If actuator or circuits show no problem, go to next step.
- Reconnect all previously disconnected components. Road test vehicle in 4H and 4L ranges. If these ranges operate correctly, go to next step. If these ranges do not operation correctly, go to step 8).
- Replace ATC control module. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . When replacement is complete, see ATC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Repair or replace transfer case. See TRANSFER CASE OVERHAUL NEW VENTURE 246 article in POWERTRAIN section. When repair or replacement is complete, see ATC SYSTEM CHECK .
