Fuel Gauge Always Reads Full

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Disconnect fuel level sensor on top of fuel tank. Connect fused jumper wire between ground and fuel level sensor connector Purple wire terminal. If gauge moves toward EMPTY, replace fuel level sensor. If gauge remains on FULL, go to next step.
  2. Remove jumper. Backprobe instrument cluster connector terminal No. 30 (Purple wire) to ground using fused jumper wire. If gauge moves toward EMPTY, repair open in Purple wire. If gauge remains on FULL, replace instrument cluster.
