Oil Pressure Gauge Always Reads Zero (Commercial)

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Disconnect oil pressure sender harness connector. If oil pressure gauge remains at zero, go to next step. If gauge moves toward HIGH, go to step 3).
  2. Using a test light, backprobe instrument cluster harness terminal No. 21 (Tan wire) to battery power. If test light does not light, replace instrument cluster. If test light lights, repair short to ground in Tan wire.
  3. Connect an oil pressure tester to engine. Start engine. If oil pressure gauge shows oil pressure, replace oil pressure sender. If gauge does not show oil pressure, problem is with engine. See appropriate ENGINE MECHANICAL article in ENGINES section.
