Intake Manifold (Upper): Removal

CAUTION: Always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to male fuel pipe ends before connecting fuel pipe fittings in order to reduce risk of fire and personal injury. Ensure ends of fuel system are properly sealed upon disconnection. DO NOT disassemble CFI unit.

NOTE: Manufacturer does not provide a torque sequence for upper intake manifold.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner assembly. Remove the wiring harness connectors and brackets and move aside. Disconnect cruise control cable (if equipped) and throttle cable at throttle body. Remove throttle cable bracket from upper intake manifold and move aside.
Remove the fuel lines from the intake to the rear of the block. Disconnect PCV hose at the upper intake manifold. Disconnect and remove the ignition coil and bracket. Disconnect and remove purge solenoid and bracket. Reference mark location of upper intake manifold studs for reassembly reference. Remove the upper intake manifold bolts/studs and upper intake manifold.
