Transfer Case Switch & Shifting Procedure: Notes

Transfer gear position is determined by which position the vehicle operator selects on the transfer case selector switch, located on instrument panel above light switches. Transfer case selector switch is marked with a 4HI (upper position) and 4LO (lower position) on the face of the switch. The 4HI area contains a Green status indicator light and 4LO area contains a Amber status indicator light.

Transfer case selector switch is spring-loaded to the 2HI (center) position. This provides transfer case operation in 2HI mode during normal driving. When transfer case selector switch is moved to 4HI or 4LO position, status indicator light on transfer case selector switch will illuminate to indicate which gear position is selected.

Two types of shifts can be performed on the transfer case, mode shift and range shift. Following procedure describes each type of shift.
