DTC 8 - Shorted Dump Solenoid Or EBCM Fault: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 GMC Sonoma. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Perform SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC CHECK  before performing trouble shooting procedure.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM 4-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Measure resistance between White wire and Black wire terminals of EBCM 4-pin connector. If resistance is not 1-3 ohms, go to step 5). If voltage is 1-3 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Measure resistance in White wire between EBCM 4-pin connector and APV valve body. If resistance is present, go to step 4). If resistance is infinite (open circuit), go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Replace EBCM. See removal procedures for ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE (EBCM)  . After EBCM replacement, perform SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC CHECK  .
  4. Replace Anti-Lock Pressure Valve (APV). See removal procedures for ANTI-LOCK PRESSURE VALVE  . After replacement of APV, clear DTCs. Perform SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC CHECK  .
  5. Check for poor connection at EBCM 4-pin connector and harness connector. If connections are okay, go to step 4). If connections are not okay, go to next step.
  6. Repair EBCM 4-pin connector or harness connector as necessary. Measure resistance between White wire and Black wire terminals of EBCM 4-pin connector. If resistance is not 1-3 ohms, go to step 4). If resistance is 1-3 ohms, clear DTCs. See CLEARING CODES  . Perform SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC CHECK  .
