Range Shifts

A range shift is a shift from 4HI to 4LO, 4HI to 4LO or 4LO to 4HI. All range shifts MUST BE performed with vehicle speed less than 3 MPH with transmission In Neutral (A/T models) or clutch Depressed (M/T models). A range shift from 4LO directly to 2HI cannot be performed, as transfer case must first be shifted from 4LO to 4HI and then from 4HI to 2HI.

If shifting transfer case 4LOW and any other range, ensure vehicle speed is less than 3 MPH with transmission in Neutral (A/T models) or clutch depressed (M/T models). Press and release appropriate area on transfer case selector switch. Indicator light on transfer case selector switch will flash to indicate shift is initiated and continue to flash until the TCCM completes the shift or until 30 seconds elapses.

Indicator light on transfer case selector switch MUST BE on steady before shifting transmission into gear (A/T models) or before releasing clutch pedal (M/T models).
