Chart C-10, A/C Compressor Clutch Circuit Diagnosis - 4.3L (VIN W & Z) S" & "T" Series A/T & 4.3L (VIN W) "T" Series M/T: Notes

A/C delay relay is used to delay operation of A/C compressor clutch for about 18 seconds after ignition is turned on. Regardless of A/C control position, delay relay is energized and starts its timer sequence when ignition is turned on.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Check for power to relay terminal No. 30 on circuit No. 901.
  2. If A/C compressor clutch engages, compressor cycling switch is stuck open. Before replacing switch, check A/C refrigerant charge.
  3. If voltage is present on circuit No. 66, circuit to relay terminal is okay.
