Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Removal

  1. Disconnect batteries. Drain cooling system. Remove alternator, grille, A/C compressor, condenser, radiator and power steering pump as necessary. Remove engine speed sensor.
  2. Remove the hydraulic valve lifters. Refer to HYDRAULIC VALVE LIFTERS  . Remove timing chain and sprockets. Refer to TIMING CHAIN & SPROCKETS  .
  3. Remove long bolts from engine mounts. Raise and support engine to ease camshaft removal. Remove camshaft thrust plate and spacer. Remove camshaft.
