Pinion Flange & Pinion Seal: Installation

  1. Inspect pinion flange. Replace pinion flange if damaged. Lubricate seal.
  2. Using Pinion Seal Installer (D-163), drive oil seal into housing bore. Install a non-hardening sealer to pinion splines or to internal splines of pinion flange.
  3. Install washer (if equipped) and self-locking nut to pinion, and snug tighten. Using pinion flange holder and remover, hold pinion flange and tighten pinion nut to specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install drive shaft. Add lubricant.
