Bushing Replacement

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 14 other vehicles, including the 1993 Oldsmobile Bravada, 1993 GMC Yukon, 1993 GMC Suburban, 1993 GMC Sonoma, and 1993 GMC Safari. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove lower control arm from vehicle. See LOWER CONTROL ARM  . Place lower control arm in soft-jawed vise.
    NOTE: On "K" Series Blazer, K15 and K25 Pickup and Sierra, Suburban and Yukon, lower control arm bushings are NOT replaceable. Complete replacement of lower control arm and bushings as an assembly is required.
  2. On Astro, K35 Series Pickup, Safari and Sierra K3500, using a punch, unbend crimps on front bushing. Press front and rear bushings out of lower control arm using Ball Joint "C" Clamp (J-9519-23 ) and Control Arm Bushing Service Set (J-36618 ).
  3. On Bravada, Jimmy, Sonoma, Typhoon and "T" Series Blazer & Pickup, press front and rear bushings out of lower control arm using a washer, bearing and Control Arm Bushing Service Set (J-21474 ). See Fig 1 .
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. See Fig 1 . On Astro, K35 Series Pickup, Safari and Sierra K3500, crimp front bushing after installation. On all models, press in bushings until properly seated in lower control arm. Install lower control arm into vehicle. See LOWER CONTROL ARM  .
