Lower Control Arm: Removal
- Raise and support vehicle. Support lower control arm with floor jack. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove brake caliper and suspend aside. Remove coil spring. See COIL SPRINGS . Support inboard end of control arm. Remove cotter pin from lower ball joint stud, then loosen ball joint stud nut one turn.
- Using Ball Joint Separator (J-23742 ), position large cupped end of separator over upper ball stud nut, and position pilot-threaded end of tool onto lower ball stud. See Figure.
- Extend bolt of ball joint separator to separate ball stud from steering knuckle. Remove ball joint separator and stud nut. Remove control arm-to-frame nuts. Remove control arm.
