EGR System Operation Check

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Plymouth Voyager, 1995 Plymouth Grand Voyager, 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan, and 1995 Dodge Caravan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Warm engine to operating temperature. Check condition of all EGR system tubes, hoses and electrical connections.
  2. Start engine. Snap throttle to 2000-2800 RPM and check for EGR valve stem movement. If EGR stem moves, proceed to EGR GAS FLOW TEST. If no stem movement occurs, see the appropriate TESTS W/CODES - 3.3L GASOLINE - TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section for further testing procedures.
