Driver-Side Air Bag Module & Steering Wheel: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
  2. Driver-side air bag module is mounted on steering wheel face. See Fig 1 . Position wheels straight-ahead. Remove cruise control switches and covers from steering wheel back shroud. Disconnect wires.

  3. Remove air bag module retaining bolts/nuts from rear of steering wheel. Lift air bag module from steering wheel, and disconnect electrical connector. Remove air bag module. Using Puller (C3428B), remove steering wheel.
