Driver-Side Air Bag Module & Steering Wheel: Installation

  1. If replacing deployed air bag module, replace clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING  . Position steering wheel on steering column. Ensure steering wheel hub flats fit formations inside clockspring.
  2. Pull Yellow horn wire through smaller round hole and air bag and cruise control wires through larger steering wheel slot. Ensure wires are not pinched under steering wheel. Install steering wheel retaining nut. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Route cruise control wires under and behind air bag module mounting tabs. Connect Yellow horn wire and air bag module wire to air bag module. Install air bag module and tighten bolts to specification. Connect cruise control wires to switches. Install switches.
  4. DO NOT  connect negative battery cable at this time. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
