Cylinder Head: Removal

  1. Remove intake and exhaust manifolds. See INTAKE MANIFOLD  and EXHAUST MANIFOLD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove timing belt and camshaft sprockets. See TIMING BELT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove distributor and adapter housing from cylinder head.
  2. Remove rocker arm shaft assembly. See, under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION, ROCKER ARM & VALVE LASH ADJUSTER . Remove camshaft.
    CAUTION: Note location of 10-mm Allen hex cylinder head bolt and washer for installation reference. See Fig 1.
  3. Remove cylinder head bolts in sequence. See Fig 1. Remove cylinder head and gasket.
