Oil Pump: Inspection

  1. Inspect components for damage. Measure clearance between small area of inner rotor and oil pump case. Measure outer rotor-to-oil pump case clearance between outer rotor and oil pump case.
  2. With inner and outer rotors installed in oil pump case, place straightedge across oil pump case, above both rotors. Using feeler gauge, measure rotor end clearance between rotors and straightedge.
  3. Ensure relief plunger slides freely in bore of oil pump case. Replace oil pump assembly if any clearance exceeds specification. See OIL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS  table.
